Land and Water Conservation Fund

FOLKpark continue its fundraising efforts by applying for multiple grants and fundraising in the community - putting into motion the design concepts developed in our community meetings.

One major step is applying for the Land and Water Conservation Fund out of the State of Washington's Recreation and Conservation office. If we are successful in our request for $500,000 we will use these funds to complete the Lower Kinnear Park Enhancement Plan.

Jennifer Guenther is a volunteer researching the park's history, trees, birds, and hillside restoration for interpretive signs in the park.

Not only does she have a degree in Environmental Science with an emphasis in ecology restoration, but she is also a "scientific illustrator" which means she does beautiful art of flora and fauna. Here’s a sample of her work. Her dream job . . .coordinating environmental outreach events with children and the community. Welcome Jennifer!
